Great Akagi trees of Kinjo-cho
At Uchikanagusukutaki, which can be accessed in a few minutes via a marked side path on the Kinjo-cho cobblestone road, an entire forest is a religious site with places of worship on the west and east sides. There, six giant Akagi trees that withstood the flames of war stand nearly 20 meters high. It is said that a god comes down once a year to listen to people’s wishes. The forest has long been believed to be filled with an unusual spiritual energy and is still a place where people from the local community come to pray.
