The mythical birthplace of Okinawa

Just off Hyakuna Beach a limestone monument marks Yaharazukasa, where according to legend the goddess Amamikiyo first set foot after traveling from Nirai Kanai, the fabled realm of the gods beyond the sea. From here, she created the Ryukyu Islands. At high tide the monument is submerged but at low tide is completely exposed.
