3rd American Village Morning Mart invites foreign vendors
The 3rd incarnation of the American Village Morning Mart is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Nov. 23 and this time, organizers are extending a special invitation to people in Chatan’s foreign community, including the U.S. Military community, to bring their wares for sale at the event. Handicrafts, hand-made accessories, home-baked cookies, and other sweets. Wares suitable for holiday presents are especially welcome.
When the Chatan Tourism Association, the host of the event, organized the first market back in March, they envisioned an event that attracts people to an intimate and lively morning event at the American Village in Mihama. The plan was to organize the event four times a year and have about 25 vendors offering food, beverages, handicrafts, and other goods for sale.
The second part of the plan was to offer people a chance to try some physical activities to start their day with, such as Hawaiian Hula, Tahitian dance, kickboxcercise, and yoga.
The event venue is again the area surrounding the Ferris wheel in Mihama and the booths will be open for four hours from 7 to 11 a.m.
The Chatan Information Center will be the center of vendors selling bakery products, sweets, coffee, handicrafts and accessories. Organizers aim to attract goods and foods representing a variety of countries from all over the world.
The free morning fitness sessions open with a 20-minute Jazzercise demonstration by Yurino Nakamine at 7 a.m.
Instructors Aiko Horiuchi from Chatan’s hula and Tahitian dance studio Halau Hula Na Pua O Ka Hala and Reimi Gima from Puahinano Polynesian Dance Studio teach free lessons from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Rental dresses are available for those who don’t have their own.
Yoga instructor Rumi Watari runs a free healing yoga class from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. and Bob’s kickboxercise gets your heart pumping from 10 to 11 a.m.
People joining the yoga classes should wear comfortable clothes and bring own yoga mats, towels, and other necessities.
The deadline to submit a vendor application is Oct. 16. People interested in becoming vendors, send our website Inquiry by email for details.
