Since its opening in 1998 American Village has thrived, with a number of new shops and buildings established in the surrounding area. Among its attractions, Depot Island has become one of the most famous destinations in Chatan Town for tourists and locals alike.

This summer, new attractions have been added to the area; the construction of a new chapel on the beach side of Vessel Hotel Campana Okinawa and the Hilton Okinawa Chatan Resort are nearing completion and are scheduled to open in early July.

A newly paved walking path from the Hilton Okinawa Chatan Resort to Sunset Beach via Depot Island has also been completed and promises to become a must-see sunset spot this summer.
