Hapinaha is a new entertainment hub that has opened in the building formerly occupied by Mitsukoshi Department Store on Kokusai Street. With a name derived from “happy” and “Naha,” the amusement center includes a haunted house and the Yoshimoto Okinawa Kagetsu comedy theater featuring daily performances. Here you’ll find Happy Gourmet Marché, which has selected goodies from the outlying islands such as Okinawa’s traditional alcoholic beverage, awamori, and chili oil from the Penguin Shokudo restaurant on Ishigaki Island. Also situated in Hapinaha are confectionary shops, Pokémon, Hello Kitty and Sailor Moon character-themed stores, and Suntory the Premium Malts Ocean Grill. Limited edition and tax-free items are available.
