Enjoying island seafood dishes
There are generally four ways to prepare seafood in Okinawa: as sashimi, fried, boiled and sautéed in butter. A method called masu-ni, boiling fish in salted water, has been popular since ancient times. Enjoy a variety of seafood dishes made with fish in season at restaurants, eateries at retail fish shops and izakayas (type of informal Japanese gastropub).
