Okinawa Children’s National Flower Festival at Okinawa Zoo to go ahead
The Okinawa Children's National Flower Festival outdoor events will be held as usual, although some changes in the implementation of events and workshops will be in effect. The festival runs through Apr. 5th.
However, to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection, Okinawa City has canceled or postponed until Mar. 10th most public events that had been scheduled for this spring, including indoor activities in the Okinawa Children's Country (Kodomono Kuni) Zoo.
The Children’s Flower Festival focuses flowers that bloom in the winter and early spring in Okinawa. It features many “animal figures” fashioned from plants and their blooming flowers.
On the last day of the festival, visitors can take part in an all-flowers-you-can-fit-in-a-bag event starting at 13:00. After purchasing a designated bag for ¥500, they can fill it with as many flower plants from the exhibits as they can fit in and take them home.
