The Ryukyu Kaiensai Fireworks Festival is held annually in April, preceding any other summer festivals in Okinawa -- a mecca for festival lovers. Although the Ryukyu Kaiensai Fireworks Festival charges an entry fee, unlike a number of free festivals and events where you can also enjoy a fireworks display, the sight of the fireworks lighting up the night sky over the ocean is definitely worth the ticket price.

The Ryukyu Kaiensai Fireworks Festival is one of the most popular fireworks events in Okinawa and draws tens of thousands of visitors from around the island, locals and tourists alike, looking to enjoy the fantastic show that combines music and fireworks produced by some of Japan’s top pyrotechnic artists. The festival features over 10,000 fireworks displays, some of them designed by world famous master Junko Koshino.
