Shuri Castle welcomes 2025 in Ryukyu royal style
Shuri Castle is preparing for their traditional New Year celebration, wishing everyone to join “the Joy of the New Year at Shurijo Castle Park!”
The event promises an experience of the history and culture of the Ryukyus as they were during the old Ryukyu Kingdom. The three days of the New Year's events include traditional performing arts performances, including Uzagaku, traditional Ryukyu Kingdom chamber music with roots in diplomatic relations with the Ming and Qing dynasties of China.
There will also Ryukyuan performing arts and other traditional entertainment. The King and Queen of the Ryukyu Kingdom are also scheduled to appear.
