The Yakena Haarii begins with beautifully decorated dragon boats parading from the community center to Yakena Port. Following the opening ceremony, the exciting dragon boat races kick off, and old women with hanagasa (hats adorned with flowers) will start beating drums to cheer on oarsmen. You can enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of a typical Okinawan festival at this small, local haarii event.
